FAQ – Getting Started with Scuba Diving
Step 1: First Dive
Do you need to know how to swim to scuba dive?
Yes. You need to be comfortable in the water, but you do not need to be an experienced swimmer.
From what age can you scuba dive?
A discover scuba dive is possible from the age of 8.
How long does a discover scuba dive last?
A discover scuba dive lasts between 20 and 25 minutes underwater, with preparation time before and after the dive.
Can you dive if you wear glasses?
Yes, it is possible to dive while wearing soft contact lenses.
Please note that a diving mask creates a “magnifying” effect.
What is the difference between a discover scuba dive and Level 1?
The discover scuba dive is an introduction to the activity, without certification.
Level 1 is an official certification that allows you to dive up to 20 meters anywhere in the world, always under the supervision of an instructor.
Step 2: Level 1 (N1)
What are the requirements to start Level 1?
To begin Level 1 (N1) training, two conditions are required:

having completed a discover scuba dive recently,
-
providing a medical certificate stating no contraindications to scuba diving, issued by a doctor.
Can I do another discover dive if mine was a while ago?
Yes.
It is absolutely possible to do another discover dive before starting Level 1, to regain confidence and get back into the right conditions.
What does Level 1 allow you to do once certified?
Level 1 allows you to:

learn all the technical and safety basics of scuba diving,
-
learn how to manage your equipment before, during, and after the dive,
-
dive anywhere in the world, always supervised by an instructor,

explore the seabed down to a depth of 20 meters.
